NorthStar VETS® now offers treatments using extracorporeal therapies, including hemodialysis (IHD and CRRT), hemoperfusion, ultrafiltration, and therapeutic plasma exchange.
What Can Be Treated With Extracorporeal Therapies?
- Acute kidney diseases
- When severe azotemia, acidosis, and electrolyte disturbance, such as hyperkalemia, are not improving with medical management
- Patients with oligoanuria and overhydration
- Chronic kidney diseases
- Stabilization after an acute or chronic event
- Long-term management
- Blood purification in case of intoxication or drug overdose
- Ethylene glycol
- Chemotherapy agent
- Antibiotics (hepatotoxic or nephrotoxic drugs)
- NSAIDs (ibuprofen, naproxen, piroxicam, meloxicam, carprofen)
- Anticonvulsants (phenobarbital)
- Lily toxicity
- Immune-mediated diseases
- IMHA, ITP, myasthenia gravis, systemic lupus, Lyme-associated nephritis
- Sepsis
- Acute liver injury
- Remove bilirubin
- Provide coagulation factors and albumin
- Refractory congestive heart failure
- Cytokines removal
